01 Mission & Vision
Achievers Ghana's Mission
To empower girls in Ghana to reach their full potential through education,
mentorship, and community action, unlocking their power to have a transformative
impact on their communities.
Achievers Ghana's Vision
We envision a Ghana where every girl is educated, protected, respected and valued,
and grows up to turn the tide of poverty for her family and nation.
02 Our Model
Our Model of Accountability
We are accountable first and foremost to each individual girl we serve. We see the world
from her perspective, and dismantle the social and financial barriers that keep her from
developing her full potential.
All our systems and processes support the principle of accountability to our girls.
We ensure full transparency in our management of financial resources, with communities
serving as our primary stakeholders.
03 Our Leaders
The leaders bringing our vision to life
Through our growing network of alumni, young women are taking action on the big challenges
their communities face. Our graduates galvanize their communities into action, making sure
girls secure their right to learn and lead.
This unique network of future teachers, nurses, doctors and entrepreneurs is growing every
day as more girls complete school and join them, working together to change the status quo
for women and girls for good.
04 Our Values
Shared values and principles
Focus on the girl as our client
Our programs begin with an individual girl. By looking at the world from her
perspective, we work to dismantle the barriers to her education and to living a
healthy adult life. We're answerable first and foremost to her.
Partner with the community
Change can't happen without community support. We believe people living in rural
and underserved communities are best placed to solve the problems around them.
Community members help with our program design and implementation.
Be transparent and accountable
All our systems support the principle of accountability. We ensure full transparency
in our management of financial resources, running robust systems that our partners
and communities can trust.
05 Our Story
Founded by a girl who refused to give up
Achievers Ghana begins with Amina, a girl from the Nima community of Accra. Despite
limited resources, she excelled in school. But at 12, she faced the threat of early
marriage, a fate common to many girls in her community.
With courage, and the support of teachers who believed in her, Amina stayed in school.
Realising her story was not hers alone, she became an advocate, convinced that
"for the world to be at peace, women need to be educated."
In May 2011, Amina co-founded what began as a small reading club in Nima. Today it is a
movement that has reached over 2,000 girls across three regions of Ghana.
