United Way Ghana in collaboration with Achievers Ghana organised this year’s International Literacy Day 2018 at Maamobi – Kawukudi, Accra. This year’s celebration was on the theme ” Back to School and Literacy Fair” witnessed many teachers, parents and children within the East and North Ayawaso Constituency of Greater Accra region.
Parents, teachers and community leaders were engaged in an educational seminar. They were taken through the modern way ways of addressing the needs of students both at home and school. Special Attention Project (SAP) addressed teachers and parents on interventions to help children with learning difficulties to achieve their potential.
Mr James of Eneza Education took the audience through how teachers and students can access the modern way of learning mobile web, desktop, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram.
The children were engaged in intensive reading activities from our volunteers. It was a really interesting encounter with the children as many of them find it difficult to read. our volunteers were able to bring out the best in the children and has been advised to take their reading very serious.
Some of the children also took part in bead making and many other activities. There were also facilities for children to play such as the bouncing castle and many more.
Other organisations that took part in the program were Ghana Education Service, Ghana Library Authority and Worldreader. Thank you all for making this year’s event a successful one.
