On 29th July 2025, the atmosphere at Achievers Ghana was filled with excitement and anticipation as we welcomed twelve student volunteers from Project Abroad Ghana. The group, made up of bright young ladies from the United States, Germany, France, Japan, and Italy, arrived with one goal in mind — to share knowledge, inspire confidence, and help our girls understand the importance of knowing their rights.

From the very beginning, the volunteers brought energy, warmth, and cultural diversity into the room. Their chosen topic, “The Importance of Knowing Your Rights,” could not have been more timely. Through a series of engaging presentations, group discussions, and real-life scenarios, they helped our girls explore what human rights truly mean. They explained that human rights are not abstract ideas found only in books or laws; they are practical, everyday freedoms that protect dignity, equality, and safety.

The volunteers emphasized that knowing one’s rights is a powerful form of self-empowerment. They encouraged the girls to see rights not just as legal protections but as tools that give them the confidence to make decisions, speak up when treated unfairly, and stand against discrimination. Small group discussions made the experience even more personal, as the girls were able to share their own thoughts and experiences, ask questions, and receive encouragement from the volunteers.

One of the most impactful aspects of the day was hearing from the girls themselves. “I used to think that only adults could talk about rights. Now I know I also have rights as a girl and a student. I feel more confident to speak up,” said Amina, 15 years old. Another participant, Fatima, 16 years old, shared, “The volunteers made me understand that my voice matters. I now believe I can stand for myself and other girls if something is wrong.” These powerful words are a testament to the lasting impact the session had on our young learners.

The visit was not only about learning; it was also about building connections. The cultural diversity of the volunteers gave the girls a broader view of the world and showed them that the fight for rights and equality is shared across nations. For many of our girls, this was their first time engaging so closely with people from such different parts of the world — an experience that will remain in their memories for years to come.

In the end, the Project Abroad Ghana volunteers left us with much more than information. They left us with a renewed sense of self-worth, confidence, and hope. The girls walked away knowing that their rights are worth protecting, their voices deserve to be heard, and their dreams are valid. At Achievers Ghana, we are deeply grateful for this visit and look forward to more collaborations that nurture informed, confident, and empowered young women.
